Microsoft is retiring SMS codes for sign-in

From 1 February 2027 you can no longer sign in to work and school Microsoft accounts with an SMS or voice code. The replacement is called a passkey, and where you store it is a choice you want to make deliberately. Here is what changes and what to arrange now.
